Wugtrio Cup is a competitive Pokémon team tournament where strategy starts long before the first turn is played.

In this tournament, players do not compete alone. Each team consists of three players, and every week your trio faces another team in a head-to-head matchup. A weekly team match is made up of three best-of-three sets, one for each player. Win enough individual sets, and your team takes the week.

But Wugtrio Cup comes with a twist.

Across the three players on the same team, every Pokémon may only be used once per week. That means if Player A brings Incineroar, Player B and Player C cannot use Incineroar in their teams that same week. This restriction is based on Pokédex number, so different forms still count as the same Pokémon. For example, regular Venusaur and Mega Venusaur cannot both be used by the same team in the same week, and the same goes for Pokémon such as Ninetales and Alolan Ninetales.

This makes Wugtrio Cup more than just a test of individual skill. It is a test of teamwork, preparation, communication, and creativity. Teams have to decide how to divide the strongest Pokémon between their players, how to build around limited shared resources, and how to prepare for opponents who are doing the exact same thing. Every lineup becomes a puzzle, and every week brings a new challenge.

The tournament begins with a group stage, where teams play a round-robin format within their pool. Each team faces every other team in their group once. After the group stage, the top-performing teams advance to the knockout stage, where every match matters even more. From there, teams battle their way through the bracket until only one trio remains.
